Why 'Tarabganj'?
A Bakshi, a talab
The name combines 'Bakshi' (a paymaster in the Awadh Nawabi court) and 'Talab' (pond).
The elephant story
By local tradition, the Nawab gave Tripur Chand money to buy an elephant. He instead built a public reservoir during a water crisis.
